TUESDAY 28th April 2020:

NINTENDO SWITCH HACK - Nintendo have confirmed a data breach of over 160000 user accounts. See here. Some of these accounts have already been used to make illegal purchases and you are advised to check for any unauthorised purchases and update your security/login details as soon as possible. You can take the following steps if you think you may have been affected or just to add extra security to your account in light of this event:

  • Log in to your Switch account and change the password, remember to use a good, strong password.
  • Enable 2-factor authentication. This means if somebody tries to use your login details, you will get a code sent to your phone, so you know that somebody is trying to log in.
  • Go to the HaveIBeenPawned website (HERE) and put in your username/email address to see if any accounts have been hacked.

Hopefully none of you will have been affected and, given the large number of Nintendo Switch users out there, the actual number of hacked accounts is pretty low.

Please see this short but concise story explaining, in an age-appropriate way, all about the Coronavirus and why we are currently practising social distancing etc. Click here.
